What Is Faith? Understanding Kingdom Currency

ree

What Is Faith?

Faith is Kingdom currency. It’s substance.

You can’t see it, but you know it’s real. You can’t touch it, but you know it’s there.

How? You believe.

As a believer in Christ, everyone has been given a measure of faith. You had enough faith to receive salvation. But in order to grow your faith, you have to nurture it.

This happens by:

  • Reading the Bible

  • Listening to Bible-based messages and sermons

  • Spending intentional time in prayer

Faith grows when you hear the Word of God.

What Does the Bible Say?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”— Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Let’s break that down...

Substance – A Firm Foundation

That word "substance" also means confidence, assurance, and steadiness of mind.

Our faith is a foundation we can stand on. We can fully trust that God will do what He said He would do in His Word.

But to stand on that foundation, you have to know what He said. And that means spending time in His Word—learning His promises and anchoring your life to them.

Abraham believed God, and the Bible says his faith was counted to him as righteousness. Even at 100 years old, he received the promise of a son because he believed. God is true to His Word.

Evidence – Proof and Conviction

"Evidence" means proof, conviction, something that has been tested and proven.

Faith gives us confidence in the invisible.

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”— Hebrews 11:3 (NKJV)

Just take a look around: the trees, the sky, the oceans, the hills. God created all of it—with His words. And we are convinced of their reality because we see them with our eyes.

Look Back to Strengthen Your Faith

If you reflect on your life, you’ll see moments where your faith was tested—and proven.

God has already done so much for you. He’s answered prayers, opened doors, brought peace in storms, and made a way out of no way. He’s come through before, and He’ll come through again.

In Scripture, God often reminded His people of the victories He had already given them. Why? Because looking back at His faithfulness gives us courage to face what’s ahead.

Let that be your practice: Look back. Reflect. Give thanks.Let your testimony be your evidence.

What to Do If Your Faith Feels Weak

If your faith feels low, don’t be discouraged—it just needs some nurturing.

Remember:

“…if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”— Matthew 17:20 (NIV)

So:

  • Open your Bible

  • Find a Bible-believing church

  • Get around faith-filled friends who will lift you up and encourage you

  • Speak God’s Word over your life daily

Faith is not about being perfect—it’s about being planted.

Faith is not about having it all figured out. It’s about trusting the One who already does.

When you walk by faith, you’re walking in alignment with God’s power and purpose for your life. He’s not asking for perfect faith—just active faith.

So today, decide to nurture the measure of faith you’ve been given. Speak God’s promises. Reflect on His faithfulness. And keep your heart open to what He wants to do in your life.

You were made to live a life of faith, power, and purpose—starting now.
